The Rope Access Manager will be responsible for ensuring that those in control of rope access work scopes are competent and in compliance with IRATA requirements to ensure safe systems of work are in place. This role will oversee the overall development, implementation, and control of the Rope Access Management System (RAMS) and shall ensure the timely and effective communication of IRATA requirements to company, directors, managers, supervisors, and rope access technicians.

This position can be based in Edmonton or Fort McMurray

What You Will Be Working on
- Reports directly to the Director, Strategic Operations.
- Collaborates with other leaders within the organization to create a continuous improvement safety culture, which benefits each project in addition to internal department relations.
- Ensure that all rope access technicians undertaking rope access operations are appropriately IRATA qualified and logged as such with continue supervision of their active status.
- Ensure that all rope access operations are directly supervised by IRATA Level 3 rope access technicians.
- Liaise with IRATA to ensure compliance to byelaws and other jurisdictional standards.
- Receives communications and links to provide the mandatory submission of quarterly safety returns, accident, and incident reports to IRATA.
- Distributes all IRATA safety communications and maintain an auditable record of their distribution.
- Oversee and ensure the bi-annual inspection and organization of all rope access equipment used throughout the organization.
- Manages the company’s IRATA website profile, including distribution of rope access job postings and other company information.
- Attend on behalf of the company the IRATA Annual General Meeting or other properly convened meetings with the local IRATA Regional Advisory Committee within each 12-month period and submit the Annual Declaration confirming company attendance and continued compliance.
- Development and / or revise rope access forms and procedures to maintain compliance with the ever-changing industry standards in addition to continued integration with other applicable departmental process (ie. Safety, Supply Chain, Quality, Onboarding, etc.).
- Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team. Actively supports field rope access personnel to ensure successful and safe completion of all of Stuart Olson Industrial’s projects.
- Perform audits of projects on an on-going basis to confirm conformance to company, owner and IRATA standards.
- Initiate and take part in annual top management audits of our IRATA certified Rope Access Management System.

What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 10 years’ experience across the following sectors:

- Oil & Gas
- Petrochemical
- Agri-Chem
- Power
- Other industrial sectors
- Held, or currently holds an IRATA Level 3 qualification.
- Journeyperson certification in one of following trade categories:

- Electrician
- Instrumentation
- Pipefitter
- Millwright
- Boilermaker
- Welder
- Insulator
- Experience with Full-Service General Contracting and the coordination required.
- Business Development Acumen.
- Well-rounded knowledge base relating to multiple craft disciplines.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to meet aggressive internal and external deadlines.
- Health, Safety & Environment acumen relating to HOP & HECA
