Paralegal Student

PARALEGAL STUDENT

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in document preparation and review relating to Residential Tenancy: Landlord and Tenant Law, Provincial Offences, Small Claims Court, Criminal and Immigration Law
- Assist in trial preparation and trial notebook
- Assist in preparation for Small Claims Court and LTB hearings with Paralegal
- Conduct legal research through Canlii, Law Source, Lexis Advanced Quicklaw
- Organize files
- Filing and serving pleadings
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, courts, departments
- Other duties as required

**Requirements**:

- Attending credited LSO Paralegal Program
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the statutes of Residential Tenancy: Landlord and Tenant Law, Provincial Offences, Small Claims Court, Criminal and Immigration Law
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of court procedures and filing deadlines, including filing court material online per the new practice directions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, Adobe, Google Docs, Google Sheets
- Strong written, verbal communication skills
- Organized, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work on various projects at the same time, excellent time-management skills
- Motivated to learn tasks quickly and improve performance
- Should live 15-20 minutes from the office

Position: FULL-TIME
