**Job Description**:
MLSE Sport Performance Lab is seeking an experienced Manager of Engineering to lead the development of the internal technical architecture for a data-driven team. This role will work with data scientists, data engineers, developers, product teams, and biomechanists. This department is seeking to build a long-term engineering foundation to support research and products to arm our partner teams with competitive advantages.

**Responsibilities**:

- Design, build, and manage new technical architecture and infrastructure to support our team's work in research, machine learning, and app development.
- Lead and mentor a small team of data engineers and full-stack developers.
- Implement and oversee MLOps, data engineering, and software development best practices.
- Identify, select, and integrate cloud tools, database systems, and other technologies to enhance operations and productivity.
- Manage projects effectively, setting clear objectives, defining priorities, and ensuring resources are efficiently used to meet deadlines.
- Advocate for the engineering team, and growing awareness of engineering needs across the organization.
- Collaborate with data science, product, and biomechanics teams to align strategies, resources, and goals.
- Identify and monitor performance metrics to prioritize areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain knowledge of developments in the data science and engineering industries.

**Qualifications**:
- Strong academic background in a technical field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in building new technical architecture from scratch.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior data engineers and/or full-stack developers.
- Deep knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD tools.
- Familiarity with MLOps and data engineering principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in database management and software development.
- Strong project management skills, with an ability to manage resources and timelines effectively.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
