**Position Overview**:

- Under the general supervision of the Manager, Food Services or Designate, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the COOK I is responsible for: preparing food as specified on the menu; maintaining high standards of sanitation in food handling and in work areas; documenting appropriate information as required; and performing all other related duties as assigned.

**Experience**:

- One (1) year related experience, within the preceding seven (7) years in a commercial cooking operation.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**:

- Grade XII or recognized equivalent.
- Successful completion of a recognized Commercial Cooking Program.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to improved food preparation methods.
- Ability and willingness to follow standardized recipes and to assist in the control of serving portions.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated personal cleanliness.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist and reach constantly throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 60 lbs/27 kgs.
