**Driver Companion (Healthcare)**
**Job Summary**:
As a Driver Companion in healthcare, your primary role is to provide transportation assistance and companionship to individuals who require transportation to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, or other healthcare-related activities. In addition to safe transportation, you will offer emotional support, engage in conversations, and provide a sense of comfort and security to individuals who may be facing health challenges or mobility limitations.
This role requires excellent driving skills, empathy, and the ability to create a positive and reassuring environment for the individual.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Transportation Assistance: Safely transport individuals to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other healthcare-related activities using a personal or company vehicle.
2. Mobility Support: Provide physical assistance, such as helping the individual in and out of the vehicle, ensuring they are comfortable and secure during the journey.
3. Companionship: Engage in conversations, active listening, and friendly interactions with the individual, providing emotional support and a sense of companionship during the journey.
4. Emotional Support: Offer empathy, compassion, and understanding to the individual, helping them cope with any anxiety or stress related to the appointment or medical condition.
5. Appointment Coordination: Assist with appointment scheduling and reminders, ensuring timely arrival and coordination with healthcare professionals.
6. Safety Precautions: Adhere to all traffic rules, regulations, and safe driving practices to ensure the safety of both the individual and yourself during transportation.
7. Comfort and Convenience: Maintain a clean and comfortable vehicle environment, adjusting temperature settings, providing necessary amenities, and accommodating any special needs or preferences of the individual.
8. Confidentiality and Privacy: Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding the individual's personal and medical information, ensuring privacy is upheld during conversations and interactions.
9. Documentation: Keep accurate records of transportation schedules, mileage, and any relevant information or observations that may need to be communicated to the appropriate healthcare professionals or caregivers.
10. Communication: Communicate with the individual's family members, healthcare providers, and other caregivers as needed to provide updates on the individual's transportation schedule, any changes or concerns, and to ensure coordinated care.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
1. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
2. Vulnerable Sector Police Check and
3. TB Test - Medical Report (within 6 months)
4. Valid First AID and CPR level C
5. Knowledge of traffic rules and safe driving practices.
6. Compassionate and empathetic nature.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with individuals requiring transportation.
9. Patience, understanding, and the ability to provide reassurance and emotional support.
10. Respect for diversity and cultural differences.
11. Reliability, punctuality, and professional demeanor.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
13. Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
14. Physical stamina to assist with mobility and perform tasks that may involve standing or walking.
15. Familiarity with GPS or navigation systems.
16. Prior experience in transportation, caregiving, or a related field is preferred.

**Salary**: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
