**Job Title: Cook**
**Reports to: All Crossing Cooks report to the Head Chef or BOH Supervisor**
**Supervises: N/A.**
**Position Type: Part-time, seasonal.**

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Ensure that food is prepared and cooked to the highest quality standards, following established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
- Utilize their culinary skills to cook and assemble dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining various kitchen equipment, including ovens, stovetops, grills, fryers, and other appliances. They ensure equipment is used correctly and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Head Chef
- A cook is a skilled culinary professional responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in a food service establishment such as a restaurant, hotel, or catering company. The job description of a cook typically includes the following responsibilities:
- Preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and measuring ingredients.
- Follow recipes or instructions to ensure accurate and consistent preparation of dishes.
- Utilize their culinary skills to cook and assemble dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Focus on presentation by arranging and garnishing dishes to enhance visual appeal.
- Follow menu guidelines and ensure that dishes are prepared in accordance with the established menu offerings. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth flow of food preparation and timely delivery of orders.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment. Handle food properly, follow proper storage practices, and ensure that all cooking surfaces and utensils are clean and sanitized. Monitor and record food temperatures to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes to ensure that they meet the restaurant's standards. They taste and adjust seasonings as needed and may provide feedback to the kitchen management regarding menu items or ingredient quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in their workstations, as well as in the overall kitchen area. Clean and sanitize cooking utensils, pots, pans, and other equipment, and may assist with general kitchen cleaning duties as required.
- Must be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment
- Assist in washing dishes, cooking equipment, dishware, and utensils.
- Follow all steps of service in best practices documentation beyond those described in this job description.

Contract length: 8 months
Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
