Associate Pastor

**Associate Pastor Job Description**

The Associate Pastor of Bridgeway Community Church (BCC) will serve under the Lead Pastor to provide supportive leadership in the areas of preaching, pastoral care, ministry, and overall spiritual health of the congregation. The Associate Pastor of BCC will demonstrate a heart for youth and provide them overall pastoral leadership and direction.
- **Responsibilities of the Associate Pastor include**_:
**Youth Ministry: Develop and lead an effective youth ministry program.**

Provide discipleship to youth attending BCC or BCC youth programs

i. Seek suitable mentors for youth as needed

Provide spiritual leadership and Bible-based teaching to youth

i. This may include Sunday morning Sunday School Classes

Plan and carry out youth events, including Bible study and relationship building events

Recruit, lead, and disciple adult youth sponsors

Communicate clearly with youth, youth sponsors, and youth parents

A vision to reach youth in the community outside of the congregation of BCC

**BCC Team and Congregational Meetings**:
Participation in mentorship and direction under the Lead Pastor in all listed responsibilities

Attendance of weekly staff meetings

Attendance of congregational meetings, such as the Semi-Annual and General Meetings

Potential involvement in a Ministry Team area

**3.** **Sunday Morning Services**:
Attend and participate in Sunday morning services, with opportunities for leading portions of the service and preaching

**4.** **Special Services**:
Participation in special services, as requested or affirmed by the lead pastor, including such services as Christmas Eve, funerals, and weddings

**5.** **Participation in groups BCC is connected to, such as**:
Mennonite Brethren Conference (provincial/national)

Swift Current and Area Youth Ministerial (1-2 meetings per month; may include some responsibilities to plan and carry out city-wide events)

West Bank Bible Camp

**6.** **Professional and Spiritual Development**:
The Associate Pastor is responsible to pursue personal discipleship to Jesus Christ.

The Associate Pastor is responsible to pursue professional and spiritual development. This could include, but is not limited to, time spent in office on devotional and prayer time, professional reading, attending retreats and conferences, and pursuing further education.

**Approximation of Ministry Time Breakdowns**:
Within the course of consistent weekly office hours and non-office hours commitments, flexibility in the use and breakdown of time is necessary and expected.
- 70%: Youth Ministry Leadership and Secondary Ministry Leadership, including the relevant meetings and responsibilities of each
- 10%: Service Preparation and Participation
- 10%: Administration, including staff, church, and community meetings
- 10%: Professional and Spiritual Development

**Qualifications**:

- Committed follower and disciple of Jesus;
- Affirms the MB Confession of Faith;
- Affirms Bridgeway Community Church vision and values;
- Has vision and love for youth and the church;
- Has experience in youth ministry or camp experience (staff or volunteer);
- Is teachable, a team-player and respectful of authority;
- Is called to, or open to exploring the call to Pastoral ministry;
- Holds a current class 5 driver’s license; and
- Can provide a current criminal record check.

**Remuneration**:
**To be determined by qualifications and experience of the individual and the current SK MB salary grid. This general job description is open for annual review and evaluation by the Elder Team and Personnel Committee.**
