Swimming Instructor

**Role**:
The Swim Instructor oversees a designated class during each weeklong session. You will plan swim lessons based off our SwimSkills Program and lead your class through land-based activities planned by our Camp Co-ordinator. You will help mentor Camp Counsellors as they assist you and your class. Gain meaningful experience teaching lessons and managing children of varying ages. This is a great opportunity to develop work experience in the pool industry

Our program runs for 6 weeks (July 2nd-August 9th) We offer half day camps for children aged 5-12 years old that consist of 2x45min swim lessons broken up by fun activities inside and outside We also run full day camps consisting of 4x25min swim lessons.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan and safely deliver lessons to children aged 5-12 based off our SwimSkill Program
- Correct swimming techniques and identify ways to improve participants abilities
- Provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques
- Creating an enjoyable and positive environment for participants and staff
- Identify participants’ abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential
- Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress. Evaluate and create report cards at the end of each camp

**Qualifications**:

- 15 years of age
- Clean criminal record and vulnerable sections check
- Bronze Medallion/ Bronze Cross Certificates
- WSI, LSI or Swimming 101

**Assets**:

- Prior Swim Club/ Swimming experience an asset
- Prior Swim Instructor experience an asset
- First aid Certifications and/or National Lifeguard an asset

**Shifts**:
Monday-Friday. 5 days per week. Hours will occur between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Ranging in length from 6-8 hours a day

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 weeks

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
