Melt Shop

Ljunghall Canada produces high pressure aluminum die cast components to support the transportation sector. Our Canadian plant is currently looking for a Melt Shop Operator.

Reporting to the Value Stream Leader, the Melt Shop Operator will be responsible for the operation of the melting furnace and pouring molten metal into holding tanks.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Operate furnace to melt metal
- Pour molten metal using ladle (forklift)
- Transport raw materials, finish products, scrap or recyclable materials throughout the plant
- Perform routine daily maintenance and inspections of equipment
- Skim dross from furnaces
- Maintain a clean work area

**Your Qualifications**
- Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks
- Safe forklift operation
- Previous work in a die casting, foundry or similar atmosphere
- Able to work as a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work shift work
- Able to work with hot temperatures
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

**Desired Skills**
- Knowledge of 5S
- Basic computer skills for inputting data
- Troubleshooting machine issues
- Experience training personnel
- Experience developing work instruction (WI) and standard operating procedures (SOP)
