The term of appointment for this contract position is from April 29, 2024 to August 30, 2024. The hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week) at an hourly rate of $16.55.

**Plant Responses and the Environment job posting JP-03-2024**:
The term of appointment for this contract position is from May 15, 2024 to September 15, 2024. The hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week) at an hourly rate of $16.55.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
The Technical Assistant will work within one or more program groups within Research & Development. The position will provide support for the execution of greenhouse, field and laboratory activities for various internal and contract projects.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Work closely with applicable R&D staff, greenhouse and field managers, laboratory staff
- Perform physical work in field and greenhouse facilities assisting with plant care and experiments
- Seed new plant material, transplant raising, as well as assist with budding, fertigation, pruning, clipping, suckering, harvest, seed organization and storage
- Assist as needed in active soil laboratories which may include exposure to dust, dirt and soil odours
- **Plant Responses and the Environment**:

- In addition to the above listed duties, you will also assist with writing up Consortium research findings, assist with COHA grants, minor use trial, soil analysis
- Ideally you will have an urban forestry background to supplement the listed qualifications

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education (BSc or diploma) in plant or horticultural sciences
- Minimum of one to two years’ related experience working in greenhouse, field and laboratory environments
- Experience in support of scientific research
- Demonstrated ability to grow, transplant, prune and harvest
- Experience taking notes and managing datasets in an organized manner
- Valid Driver’s Licence
