**Scraper Operators (Experienced - minimum 1 year)**

**Sureway** **Construction** is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.

**Job Type**: Full Time, Seasonal

**Schedule**:10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week

**Location**: Edmonton and Surrounding Area’s**:

- **no direct access to public transportation

**Essential**:Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions

**Requirements**:

- Personal Reliable Vehicle
- CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
- Minimum 1 year operating a scraper (push-pull & auger)

**Pre-employment**:

- Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
- Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

**Scraper Operators Responsibilities**:

- Operate scraper controls to regulate the height of the blade and bowl to shape and contour the site.
- Operate the Scraper in successive passes over construction surface to raise or lower terrain to specified grade, following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
- Ensure scraper is in proper gear, and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
- Ensures proper use of the cushion hitch while operating the scraper.
- Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
