Apex Aluminum is a state-of-the-art aluminum extrusion factory located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. With a 170,000 square foot aluminum extrusion facility and some of the most modern equipment in its industry, Apex can offer custom extrusions, mill finish aluminum and anodized aluminum to satisfy the most demanding customer and all architectural needs.
As a Caustic Attendant in a Die shop, you will be responsible for managing the caustic bath used for cleaning and preparing aluminum dies. This role requires following strict safety protocols and quality standards to ensure optimal die performance and longevity
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Put dies into the caustic tank run through the caustic solution.
- After completing the cycle pull out dies from the tank with Hoist disassemble the die.
- Clean the dies run through wet sand blast machine.
- Caustic Bath Operations: Prepare, monitor, and maintain caustic baths used to clean and strip dies, ensuring the correct chemical balance and temperature for effective cleaning.
- Die Cleaning & Inspection: Immerse aluminum dies in caustic baths to remove aluminum buildup and other residues, followed by visual inspection for wear or damage.
- Chemical Handling & Mixing: Safely handle caustic soda and other chemicals, mixing and preparing solutions according to established formulas and safety protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain caustic tanks, temperature gauges, and other cleaning equipment to ensure they function properly and meet production needs.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and participate in training related to handling hazardous materials.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain logs of bath maintenance, solution concentrations, cleaning cycles, and any irregularities noted during the cleaning process.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the die shop team, including die repair technicians and machine operators, to ensure clean and functional dies are available for production.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment is preferred, especially in roles involving chemical handling
- Knowledge of caustic bath operations and safe chemical handling.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and safety protocols accurately.
- Ability to lift heavy items, stand for extended periods.
