The John Howard Society of York Region is a non-profit, charitable organization serving residents of York Region. The organization works with individuals involved in any stage of criminal justice involvement and their families.

The Youth Reintegration Program provides evidence-based case management support to youth ages 12-17 involved in the justice system. This program specifically supports Indigenous, Black, and other racialized youth. This program will focus on providing specialized supports to build protective factors in youth through case management, intensive support, referrals to community resources, client advocacy and collaboration, and individual goal planning. The program utilizes a collaborative and integrated approach to increase protective factors which may include establishing positive support systems, social and emotional learning, accessing healthcare for both physical and mental health, food security, housing stability, employment, and education.

As a function of the program, youth who are enrolled in the Youth Reintegration Program will receive 1:1 clinical counselling sessions. The Youth Counsellor will work collaboratively with the Youth Reintegration Worker to establish and execute a plan of care. The counselling support will focus on enhancing strengths, resilience, and coping skills in youth.

The function of this position is to provide individualized counselling for youth.
