**Camp Counsellor**:
The USask Museum of Natural Sciences tells the story of evolution on Earth through exhibits and displays that include dinosaur replicas, fossils, live animals and plants, rocks, and minerals. Through the use of play, dramatic and visual arts the Timelines Summer Camp will engage children ages 6-10 in exhibits and hands-on programming to examine the flora and fauna of the Paleozoic - Mesozoic - Cenozoic Eras. Oceans and ages of fishes, dinosaurs, mammals, plants and insects will be explored at the Timelines Summer Camp.

**Length of Assignment**: 9 weeks - June 28 to August 29, 2023.
**Rate of Pay**: $17 per hour
**Hours and Location**: Monday to Friday 9:00am-4:30pm and/or 8:30am - 4:00pm / 37.5 hours per week at the Museum of Natural Sciences - University of Saskatchewan.

**Qualifications**

Experience in the following is desired:

- Dramatic Arts - theatre, puppetry, storytelling, and music.
- Visual Arts - drawing, painting, sculpting, and digital.
- Project Wild and Project Wet training (Environmental education manuals through the Canadian Wildlife Federation).

**Duties**:Anchored in geology, paleontology, biology, and ecology, the Timelines Camp will engage participants in science, art, and culture, and encourage them to be curious and creative. Working in a highly collaborative setting, the camp counsellor will assist the camp coordinator in the smooth running of eight week-long summer camps with 28 kids per camp by helping plan and facilitate daily science, art, and culture activities, and lead campers on excursions to other locations on campus. There is a ratio of one leader to a group of seven campers.

- Research skills and writing skills.
- Engaging youth and demonstrate adaptability and patience.
- Deliver programs with a creative mindset and able to direct the energy of youth 6-10 years in positive directions.

**Other**:

- ** REQUIRED** - Police check and vulnerable sector search (upon hiring documentation is required)
- First Aid certification an asset
- Occupational Health and Safety certification an asset
