**What you will be doing**:

- Conduct on-site surveys and inspections to determine the optimum aerial or buried route for the installation of a fiber optic cable from the Start network to the residential or business premise.
- When required, conduct in-building surveys and inspections to determine the optimum route within the building to run the fiber cable from the service entrance to the desired termination location.
- Based on the on-site surveys, prepare job site cost estimates for the fiber feed to the building, and in-building installation work.
- The job site cost estimates will include a site sketch or photos showing the pertinent installation details so that the installation crews can complete the installation work.
- Liaise with customers and property management to answer questions, obtain site work approvals, and reach consensus or resolve any disputes regarding the installation work.
- Liaise with the Start.ca installation crews or the Start.ca Sales team to answer questions or provide additional details to implement a successful fiber optic installation.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all required Federal and company guidelines, codes, standards, and legal requirements that may be applicable.
- Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today and the role as it may evolve.

**What we are looking for**:

- Graduate of a recognized Civil or Electrical Engineering Technologist, or Construction Management diploma program, or equivalent working experience.
- Solid knowledge of aerial and buried fiber optic “drop cable” installations.
- Solid knowledge of in-home and in-building telecommunications wiring practices.
- Working knowledge of telecommunications construction practices and documents including utility plans and maps, municipal guidelines, and familiarity with various pieces of construction equipment and their operating capabilities such as directional drills, vac trucks, road cut saws, etc.
- Strong communicator with the ability to connect, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, planning, and job costing skills coupled with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, specifically Excel and Word
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid G level driver's license and able to provide a driver's abstract to meet CVOR requirements.
