As the Royal Canadian Air Forces’ prime service provider at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, our team delivers comprehensive air operations, emergency services, logistics and engineering expertise to the Department of National Defence. We work on behalf of DND’s “no fail” mission at Goose Bay: supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD. 5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location. You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient services to DND. In this role, you will:

- Investigate unusual line maintenance problems and keep the TIS Manager and/or TIS Supervisor (depending on equipment) aware of any change in equipment serviceability status.
- Participate in communications facilities planning and assist in the development of design plans for the installation of additional conduit, telecom/network infrastructure and backbone and horizontal pathway systems.
- Perform research of technical solutions leading to procurement action.
- Perform serviceability testing and provide operational instructions on Comms and IT equipment for short term loans to users.
- Perform Preventive and Corrective maintenance of Comms and IT equipment.
- Assist local and national contractors with line systems installation, operating, testing and maintenance.
- Ensure all renovations, installations and modifications conform to applicable standards.
- Ensure all test equipment is calibrated to date prior to using.
- Perform maintenance of antennas, antenna support structures and cable plant systems including climbing towers and poles.
- Perform installation, add, move and changes to cabling infrastructure, including copper and fibre termination and fusion splicing.
- Perform audio/video setup and operation of equipment for presentations.
- Conduct surveys of telecommunications facilities and update telecom cable records, ensuring cable plant and drawings match.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the operations, including safety, environmental and quality.
- Administrative duties including ensure data is correct in work, prepare and submit technical reports as required, and ordering, receiving and procurement of equipment.
- Participate in equipment training, seminars, conferences, and meetings as required.
- Always provide the best and most courteous service possible to the customer.
- Responsible for specific duties as required and as directed by the TIS Manager or TIS Supervisor.
- Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.
- Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Completion of a two year program in the Line Systems or Electronics or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the telecommunications line work field.
- IT experience would be an asset.
- Experience in the installation and design of communications supporting infrastructure.
- Proficiency in the safe entry into a manhole system, use of a bucket truck for accessing aerial networks and qualified to safely climb towers and poles.
- Prior safety training in outside and inside plant operations and work in underground networks.
- NL Driver’s License with Class 1 or Class 3 with Airbrake endorsement.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Level II security clearance is required.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield is required.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to obtain Driver’s abstract.

**Hourly Rate: $49.75 Hours per week: 37.5**
