**Position Title**: Marketing Assistant

**Reports to**: Communications & Marketing Coordinator

**Hours of Work**: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday to Friday (35 hours per week)

**Contract Dates**: June 19th to August 18th, 2023 (8 weeks)

**Rate of Pay**: $16.50/hour

**About Us**:
The Active Adult Centre of Mississauga (AACM) is a recreational, wellness, and community engagement hub for adults 50+ years of age. Established in 1992, the Centre offers a wide array of weekly classes, events, programs and services focused on fitness, creativity, and multicultural enrichment. As a registered charity, the AACM keeps older adults in Peel Region active, independent, and engaged with their community.

The AACM is excited to offer an emerging professional the opportunity to work within a passionate grass-roots organization to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors in the community this summer.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**:
Working with the Centre’s staff (virtually and in-person), the successful applicant will be trained and mentored in the following areas, and demonstrate job specific and transferable skills such as digital content creation, communication vehicle development, administration and customer service, event management, program development, team and relationship building, and project management skills - namely:

- **Graphic design, videography, and streaming** - will be given creative range to practice and further develop their experience in the creation of visually compelling brand content, as well as help in the streaming of various virtual classes/sessions.
- **Client Service and Administrative support** - will be trained in addressing the needs and questions of seniors who attend classes and purchase memberships, as well as researching community resources, conducting phone outreach to engage seniors, and practicing problem solving and organizational skills within an office environment.
- Participate in and report at staff meetings, and complete other tasks and projects as assigned to support the AACM staff.

**Examples of Projects**:

- Conducting vital community research and outreach through the development, distribution, and data analysis of our Annual Members’ Survey
- Work with the AACM team to organize and implement summer events, including helping to develop timelines, logistics, etc.
- Assist in the development, streaming, and hosting of ongoing seniors’ programming and social events to engage and better the well-being of seniors
- Assist with the design and creation of the Centre’s Annual Impact Report and presentation for the Annual General Meeting
- Capturing photos, videos, and designing graphics for use on social media

**Qualifications & Assets**:

- Experience working with seniors and/or volunteers in a non-profit environment
- Ability to work and develop ideas independently
- High level of communication and social/digital media skills
- Interest and/or experience in publicity, marketing and communications
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as attention to detail
- Friendly, sense of humour, interest in being part of a fun and meaningful intergenerational community
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
