**Position Summary**:
The School Safety Coach will engage with students and administration to ensure schools are a safe and inclusive environment. The focus of this position is on safety, security and welfare of all students, staff and visitors.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities**:

- developing a safe, secure, anonymous and confidential reporting/tracking system for students and staff for liaison follow-up
- developing close ties within the school community to create an awareness of safety concerns and proactively diffuse volatile and potentially violent situations
- referring students and families to external agencies that provide mental health and physical supports
- developing connections and communications with families and group homes
- developing citizenship and engagement strategies with students and staff through daily check-ins
- demonstrating personal interest in staff and students as well as supporting school clubs and teams and providing day-to-day mentorship
- connecting with community service providers including Alberta Health and Edmonton Police Service
- implementing Violent Threat Risk Assessments and documentation
- conducting wellness checks and developing safety plans in collaboration with school administration

**Education/Qualifications**:

- diploma in Social Work or a related field
- a minimum of three years related experience including experience providing coaching and mentoring youth at-risk
- experience with social support agencies and mental health supports
- demonstrated tact and diplomacy
- excellent communication and public speaking skills
- strong cultural awareness and sensitivity

**Rate of Pay**:
$2,502.50 - $3,192.70 bi-weekly
