**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Manager of the Data Services team at D2L looks to build technical solutions that help scale the way D2L leverages data across the organization. They are responsible for building an amazing team culture, building strong relationships across the business and building out our future roadmaps for our shared Data Platform.

**HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?**
- Drive a culture of high quality and innovation
- Play key role in the hiring process when needed
- Guides the team through engineering decisions that balance people, process and technology in an efficient and secure manner
- Build and support careers paths for to enable the growth of our team members
- Define and maintain clear priorities for the team, and create reliable plans for delivering on the priorities
- Identify headwinds early and provide the support needed to mitigate challenges (risk management)
- Evaluate and compare ROI of different types of work
- Assess new technologies and determine how to utilize them to improve product lines
- Improve how we manage enterprise data at D2L

**WHAT IS D2L LOOKING FOR FROM ME?**

Competencies:

- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with other teams and roles to ensure alignment and achievement of higher-level goals
- Enable effective process improvements for the team
- Demonstrate adaptability towards changing needs of the team
- Anticipate trends and keep up to date with other teams' work, and ongoing initiatives across the company
- Effectively manage relationships with other D2L teams
- Advocate for time to invest in good engineering work

**Skills**:

- Strong data engineering principles and design patterns
- Experience managing corporate infrastructure in a public cloud environment (preferably AWS and Azure)
- Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of data security / privacy awareness
- Mapping out organizational goals to measurable outcomes
- Drive productivity and efficiency, and hold team accountable for high quality outcomes

Experience/Qualifications:

- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Proven experience of successfully managing and leading engineering teams
- Deep understanding of data engineering and integration development best practices
- Experience managing people to high performance and reaching their highest potential
