**Microsoft Research** (MSR) is a world-renowned industrial research laboratory with over 1,000 computer scientists working across the United States, United Kingdom, China, India, Canada, and the Netherlands.
We are seeking **Researchers-Hardware **in **Vancouver, British Columbia**, with a keen interest in advancing cloud **AI infrastructure** using cutting-edge technologies.
As a valued team member, you will:
- be instrumental in researching, evaluating, and innovating novel and emerging hardware technologies, trends, and best practices for future infrastructure.
- explore AI-centric system methods to enhance automation and accelerate hardware design innovations.
- collaborate extensively with internal and external leaders and specialists,
- provide strategic advice and suggestions for designing, implementing, operating, and optimizing infrastructure tailored to meet the needs of future AI customers.

**Responsibilities**:
- Investigate and analyze emerging hardware technologies, trends, and advancements to stay ahead of the curve in the industry.
- Design and optimize hardware components, systems, and architectures to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Conduct simulations, tests, and validations to ensure that hardware designs meet required specifications and performance goals.
- Identify opportunities for hardware improvements and cost reductions by staying informed of industry’s best practices and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software researchers, designers, and engineers, to identify hardware requirements and develop innovative solutions.
- Partner with manufacturing vendors and production teams to transition innovative designs and concepts into deployable systems.
- Document research findings, design decisions, and technical specifications to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the organization.
**Qualifications**:
**Required/Minimum Qualifications**
- Master's Degree in relevant field AND 1+ year(s) related research experience
- OR equivalent experience.
**Additional or Preferred Qualifications**
- Doctorate in relevant field
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
- Experience participating in a top conference in relevant research domain.
- 1+ year of experience in data center or AI infrastructure design or operation, computer architecture research/design/manufacture project, is preferred.
