**Salary**: $24 per hour

**Reports To**: Coordinator, Food Services

**Nature & Scope**:
The Facility Maintenance Assistant (Lead Cleaner) will be responsible for overseeing the cleaning and stocking of the housekeeping department. He/she must be able to communicate with the Food Services Coordinator and Outdoor Education Supervisor regarding scheduling of duties. The Facility Maintenance Assistant will ensure that all areas of camp are clean and sanitary.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- As a member of the camp staff team, the cleaner will be expected to:

- Clean assigned areas (including lodges, cabins, washrooms, dining room, and multi-purpose buildings), floors, furnishings, fixtures and surfaces according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures
- Perform emergency housekeeping, disinfect as needed
- Replenish supplies as needed
- Remove and dispose of garbage
- Maintain the floors in all buildings, including stripping and waxing as needed
- Ensure cleaning equipment, products, and materials are used correctly and safely
- Ensure the safety of all participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all participants and staff
- Ensure that facilities and equipment are properly maintained
- Provide feedback related to operations or facility to the Coordinator, Food Services
- Protect the assets of the YMCA through proper instruction and appropriate use
- Role model appropriate behaviour for staff and participants
- Remain flexible - willing to learn new skills
- Attend staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as required
- Maintain regular attendance, punctuality and be appropriately dressed

The Cleaner may be required to assist in duties not listed above. The YMCA expects the support of all staff members in fulfilling objectives that may not be specific to this position.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Current Building Services Worker Certificate (BSW)
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate
- Current WHMIS certificate
- Participation in 100% of YMCA Camps staff training
- 3 professional references
