AVAILABLE POSITION - (NON-UNION)
**PLANT SERVICES SUPERVISOR - 40 Hours/week**
One Permanent Position - 40 hours/week (predominately 3pm to 11pm)
**Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager of Property Services the successful applicant will:
- Be responsible for the supervision of all permanent and casual custodial staff, the courier
system, cafeteria staff and seasonal ground crews.
- Provide support to school administration in monitoring the day-to-day cleaning activities
performed by custodial staff to reach objectives & standards of cleanliness
- Organize and monitor the replacement of custodial staff due to absence, illness, vacation, lieu
time and modified work.
- Perform annual quality maintenance inspections at all work sites, and provide technical
information to school administrators for follow-up on identified performance improvements
- Manage and monitor ground crew activities (i.e. snow removal, grass cutting) to ensure safe and
efficient operations at all sites, including closed sites
- Ensure the security of all Board property and buildings throughout the system
- Research data regarding custodial materials/equipment, services and supplies as required
**Skills and Abilities:
- Effective human relations, conflict management and supervisory skills
- Strong communication, decision-making and leadership skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and build strong relationships but also work autonomously
- Ability to identify and solve problems in a structured way
- Highly motivated with sound organizational skills
- Manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected
events
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
- 5 years of experience in the custodial care field with responsibility
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Knowledge and understanding of progressive discipline and employee support
- Sound understanding of budgeting requirements, and accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Knowledge of building and property systems
- Driver’s license, use of a vehicle and liability insurance as required by Board policy
- Ontario Water Ticket would be an asset
