As a Pipeline Simulation Specialist with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of engineering and information technology professionals. This position is located at the Edmonton office.

The Pipeline Simulation Specialist is primarily responsible for the development, maintenance, testing and tuning of Trans Mountain’s Computational Pipeline Monitoring (CPM) based leak detection systems, trainer/simulator and real-time batch and anomaly tracking systems.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, build, implement and maintain Computational Pipeline Monitor (CPM) based leak detection systems, trainer/simulators and real-time batch and anomaly tracking systems.
- Configure, commission, and troubleshoot OPC servers.
- Develop CPM training material for the Control Center Operators and provide training.
- Monitor and evaluate performance of the CPM systems including sensitivity testing by implementing fluid withdrawal and simulated leak tests.
- Identify and make recommendations for improvements to the CPM systems, pipeline operations and field instrumentation.
- Analyze field instrumentation performance and work with field technicians to resolve instrumentation issues.
- Shares in the department’s on-call rotation.
- Develop and maintain leak detection manuals and technical documentation.
- Assist in ensuring that leak detection systems are in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Provide support to an external fiber optic leak detection system.

**Qualifications and Professional Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience, preferably in the petroleum industry with increasing responsibilities and project complexity.
- Experience developing and maintaining online computer simulations.
- Knowledge of pipeline leak detection, hydraulics, and operation.
- Experience working with real-time transient and statical modelling software.
- Experience developing and delivering technical training to non-technical personnel.
- Experience with high level programing languages.
- Experience with fiber optic-based leak detection.
- Experience with leading a team and managing projects would be an asset.

**Other Requirements and Information**
- Based in Edmonton.
- 5% travel may be required.
