School Counsellor
- 0.4 FTE

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide individual and group counselling for students in grades 6-12
- Consult and problem-solve with school-based teams
- Work collaboratively with teachers, students, families and outside agencies to develop personalized student support plans
- Lead and/or support general wellness initiatives
- Share information with colleagues and parents in the area of youth mental health
- Occasionally deliver small group and large group lessons related to wellness
- Adhere to the ethical standard of counselling programs in accordance to law
- Be available outside the normal school day to respond to emergencies and critical incidents as necesssary

**Required Qualifications**
- Master’s degree in school counselling and/or counselling psychology
- A member of (or ability to register with) a professional association (ie. BCACC, CCPA or BCASW)
- Minimum 3 years of counselling experience which includes children and youth
- Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada

**Preferred Experience and Qualities**
- Experience counselling in a school-based setting
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Confidence in referring to external community resources
- Experience with small group and large group instruction
- Excellent communication and and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills

**Salary to be determined commensurate with qualifications.
