Come and work weekdays with us at the Jack Ady Cancer Center Pharmacy We offer the perfect mix of hospital and community practice involving sterile compounding of chemotherapy plus oral dispensing for patients to take home. Technicians practice to their full scope and perform all aspects of drug distribution services to provide safe and quality patient care. Pharmacy Technician dispensing related responsibilities include triage, preparation, repackaging, and final product checking of sterile and nonsterile products, individual patient prescriptions, and wardstock. Other duties include guiding and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students; providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifying discrepancies, and/or collecting and organizing information to support the provision of direct patient care; participating in special projects and working groups as assigned; maintaining department records and statistics and preparing reports as required. It is important to build and maintain successful interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, including communicating with nursing staff and triaging drug information questions and problem-solving distribution issues. Technicians must demonstrate a high standard of performance through the completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic techniques and final product checking.
