**Your Opportunity**
- Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Trades Support, and under the direction of the Department Chairpersons, provides support and assistance to instructors and students in the Trades programs by maintaining tool room inventories, maintaining and repairing small tools and equipment; issuing materials to students and administering first aid as required. As required, and in the absence of the instructor, monitors and advises students regarding the correct operational and safety procedures pertaining to the use of tools and equipment in the shop area.**Functions and Duties**
- 1. Maintains tool room inventories and orders supplies including ordering operational supplies for the training program(s) in liaison with Supply Management Services
- 2. Maintains and updates supplier catalogues for purchase orders
- 3. Reconciles packing slips and invoices to purchase orders and procurement cards
- 4. Reconciles invoice amounts to manual or electronic budget spreadsheets
- 5. Liaises with salespeople and local businesses regarding supplies
- 6. Advises Department Chairpersons on status of tools and supply inventory and future requirements
- 7. Maintains, repairs, and overhauls equipment, including but not limited to hydraulic and hydraulic-testing equipment; electrical tools and equipment; basic electronic and testing equipment; pneumatic tools and equipment; hand tools; basic shop equipment; calibrating wheel alignment gauges and torque wrenches
- 8. Maintains a preventative maintenance program for pneumatic and electrical tools/equipment
- 9. Ensures safety devices are properly installed and utilized on all tools
- 10. Maintains and updates the WHMIS system (MSDS records)
- 11. Provides support and assistance to instructors and students by monitoring students and the shop area in the absence of the instructor
- 12. Opens and closes the shop area, including starting up and shutting down equipment, such as welding machines and compressors
- 13. Advises students regarding the correct operational and safety procedures pertaining to the use of tools and equipment
- 14. Ensures safety of personnel and control of equipment
- 15. Familiarizes students with range of tools and control procedures and demonstrating use and adjustment of tools
- 16. Assists instructors with preparation and assembly of materials for class and preparing tool lists for assignments
- 17. Responsible for issuance of materials to students including tools, tags, and lockers to students
- 18. Attends to daily requirements of students in an efficient and courteous manner
- 19. Maintains record of individual tool inventories, master combinations, and student slips for each class
- 20. Receives tools, locks and checking students’ tool inventory before signing termination slips
- 21. Arranges for cleaning and repair of protective clothing
- 22. Maintains and cleans tool room area
- 23. Provides first aid to staff and students; maintains first aid supplies and first aid room
- 24. Performs other related duties as required**Education and Experience**
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is required. Must possess valid Occupational First Aid - Level 2 certificate and a valid Forklift Operator certificate. A minimum of 1 year related experience is required.**Skills and Abilities**
- Skilled in maintaining computerized inventories and ordering supplies
- Demonstrated skill in maintaining and repairing small tools and equipment
- Skilled in organizing and issuing materials to students
- Ability to prioritize, be flexible and able to manage a high work volume and competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Background in Aircraft Maintenance or familiarity with Aerospace industry would be considered an asset. Previous experience with setup and maintenance of parts inventory would be essential.Successful applicant will require Class 5 BC Driver’s license as position requires travel to the Salmon Arm Trades campus and Vernon Trades campus.**Desired Start Date**

**Schedule**
- Position is based out of the Vernon Aerospace campus. located at the Vernon Airport. but will provide support to the Vernon Trades and Salmon Arm Trades campuses.
- Schedule would be Monday to Thursday, 7 hours a day, for a total of 28 hours per week. Specific weekly schedule will be determined upon discussion with Supervisor but will consists of two days at the Vernon Aerospace campus, one day at the Vernon Trades campus, and one day at the Salmon Arm Trades campus.-
**Annual Salary/Hourly Rate**
