**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. As directed and in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, performs a variety of routine maintenance, servicing and repair operations to maintain facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition. Responsible for effectively scheduling and supervising maintenance and repair work.

2. Perform specific tasks, to ensure standards and safety rules are observed and maintained.

3. Observes and monitors all areas of the facility for ongoing maintenance requirements and carries out Preventative Maintenance Programs as directed.

4. Performs typical work such as replacing fuses and light bulbs, repairing call bells, clearing drains, repairing beds, chairs, tables, etc., painting and redecorating tasks, replacing tiles, shovelling and salting walkways where required, removing garbage, etcetera.

5. Following approval, refers problems requiring specialized work such as electrical or plumbing, to outside contractors and monitors work performed.

6. Provides general assistance to skilled tradespersons such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters, etc., as required.

7. Room Renovation - Painting of suites as needed and floor repair and replacement if possible.

9. Landscaping - Including but not limited to the following. Salting, grass cutting or weeding.

10. Conducts regular maintenance rounds to ensure all life safety and building and support systems are functioning properly.

11. Adheres to established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, environment and infection control.

12. Supervises fire prevention and fire drill procedures, including staff training, in proper procedures and use of fire fighting equipment. Liaises with local municipal Fire Departments.

13. Liaises with outside service contractors and inspectors to assure equipment and environment conform with applicable codes and regulations.

14. Participates in budget preparation and control. Orders and/or purchases supplies/equipment in accordance with established purchasing policies and budgetary constraints.

15. Participates in Committee Meetings such as infection control, quality assurance and safety, as required. Establishes and maintains communications with other departments and works cooperatively in carrying out duties to assure the needs of residents are being met.

16. Maintains required records, reports, statistics, etc., in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

17. Ensures the privacy of residents during performance of duties.

18. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner and assures proper care in use of tools, equipment and supplies.

19. Notifies the Administrator of significant building/equipment malfunctions/problems.

20. Any other related duties as assigned.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 28 per week

**Salary**: $17.91 per hour
