The cutter is responsible for processing oversize material by cutting oversize material down to a specified size, removing any contaminants and recovering any non-ferrous material. The cutter may be required to clean non-ferrous material and clean the ground in the cutting area. The cutter must be safety conscious and be constantly aware of potential dangers.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Use a 4- 6 foot oxygen / propane torch to cut steel material down to specified size (2ft by 4ft)
- Recover any non-ferrous materials from oversize material
- Responsible for torching oversized equipment that cannot be cut by shear
- Remove any non-conforming material such as rubber, non-ferrous material etc.
- When required, clean non-ferrous material which consists of removing any non
- conforming materials from non-ferrous material such as bolts, screws and rubber
- Maintain a clean work area which includes picking waste, rubber or other materials off the ground and sorting as necessary
- Maintain equipment including the cutting torch, the torch hose and any personal protective equipment
- Maintain and safe work environment, clearing of all trip hazards

**Equipment Used**
- 4 -6 foot oxygen/ propane torch
- Various other hand tools as needed.
- PPE: Respirator, Torching safety glasses/ Face Shield, FR Coveralls/ Jacket and Pants, spats, Gloves.

**Training / Certifications Required**:

- Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
- Worker Health & Safety Awareness
- Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Material Identification
- Torch Operator Training
