Position Overview:
The Service Bay Technician is responsible for the disassembly, inspection and assembly of all Caterpillar and other Repair and Return engine components.
**Job Description**:
- Perform disassembly, assist with failure analysis, component/part inspection, and complete assembly of heavy equipment engines
- Determine the reusability of parts for all non-standard jobs
- Utilize documentation such as service letters and service magazines to ensure compliance to current OEM standards; work within the repair and return setting to meet customer requirements regarding additional salvage opportunities, expanded parts re-use, and accurate parts and labour quotation
- Work with the Technical Services team to help prepare parts for the purpose of diagnosing component failures
- Review and process documentation per company standards and be able to understand and follow scopes of repair for each process step
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the heavy equipment engine field, working on Caterpillar engines (disassembly, subassembly, inspection, assembly, service bay, or test).
- Ability to effectively use precision measuring tools, hand and power tools, and follow instruction using assembly manuals
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification will be considered an asset
- Proven ability to navigate through software programs such as EBOM system, efficiently and effectively logging job progress and ownership
- Strong organizational skills and safety awareness with the ability to safely adapt to a changing environment
- Ability to understand and follow scope of repair process and identify scope adjustments as necessary
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to create a safe and positive work environment
- Ability to lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
Note:
- This posting is for a static afternoon shift; Monday - Thursday, 10 hours per day.
- Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
- Hourly Rate: $42.15 - $54.72 / Hour
Union Membership: You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.
