**Position Title**:CRISIS INTERVENTION WORKER, Here to Help (H2H) full-time, fixed-term

**Salary**: $63,609 prorated plus comprehensive package

Gerstein Crisis Centre provides voluntary, non-medical 24/7 crisis intervention through a range of services and initiatives. Our newest project is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary community-based, mobile team that is available 7 days a week and responds to immediate concerns in two mid-east Toronto communities to help with situations that may give rise to conflict. The Crisis Intervention Worker will work collaboratively with our partner agencies to deescalate situations, provide crisis intervention, non-violent conflict resolution and community engagement. The Crisis Intervention Worker will offer immediate crisis intervention, follow-up and connection to needed health and social services.

**Successful applicants will have**:

- Three-five+ years of experience working in community mental health, crisis intervention or other health/social/community services.
- Degree (University/College) in a related field or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
- A demonstrated capacity to provide crisis intervention and utilize de-escalation strategies and interventions.
- A demonstrated ability to provide suicide risk assessment and interventions following the ASIST model.
- A demonstrated ability to work with issues related to substance use and concurrent disorders within a harm reduction framework.
- A demonstrated understanding of issues related to Mental Health and Justice Systems
- A demonstrated ability to adapt interventions to ensure equity, access, and accommodation.
- A demonstrated ability to adapt interventions to a diverse client group (ranging in age and experiences).
- A broad understanding of all the factors that impact an individual’s mental health and well-being including the social determinants of health, trauma, poverty, and homelessness.
- An extensive working knowledge of community supports available in the City of Toronto.
- A demonstrated capability to be flexible and to work under pressure.
- A demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with clients and other agencies and make appropriate use of resources.
- Working knowledge of OCAN Assessments is an asset
- A current and working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and P.H.I.P.A.
- A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License
- Conducts staff reflective practice sessions and evaluations;
- Participates in team meetings, all staff meetings and Board of Directors’ meetings, as required.

**Please note**:

- This position will be scheduled for afternoons/evenings and involves flexibility in hours including weekends and holidays.
