**VAN DRIVER/MAINTENANCE - Immediate Opening**
Permanent Full-time - 40 hours a week is preferred

Split shift (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 6:30 am to 10:30 am and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm daily)

Wednesday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Hourly rate: $17.66 per hour probationary increasing to $18.90 per hour after 1040 hours
Plus, benefits: Paid sick leave, paid vacation, cost-shared group insurance plan (medical and dental), matching group RRSP 6%, employer paid Employee and Family Assistance Plan

The Van Driver/Maintenance person is a member of a small team who work to help participants become empowered to overcome their barriers to employment as they move towards attachment to the work force. Kindness, empathy, compassion, and respect are key behaviours required of all our team members. A good communicator who understands confidentiality, respects boundaries, and has a desire to help others are key characteristics of our team members. Being comfortable behind the wheel with 14 passengers, being able to drive defensively and be in control of the vehicle while interacting with your passengers as their first and last daily point of contact, will be an important skill set for the successful applicant for this role.

The Van Driver/Maintenance person is primarily responsible to schedule and provide safe and efficient daily transportation of participants using a 14 passenger van. The program serves participants from
Queens and Lunenburg Counties. Other duties include daily pick up of supplies, groceries, and mail for the program, cleaning, maintenance of the vehicle and scheduling regular motor carrier inspections.
The Van Driver/Maintenance person has a Class 4 drivers license or higher, commercial or passenger transportation driving experience, a driver’s abstract free from accidents and violations, and can supply a suitable Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check at hire. The successful applicant will be required to obtain standard first aid certification within 30 days of hire and be willing to participate in professional development experiences as they relate to SSWAP and our support of participants. This is a bargaining unit position under a Collective Agreement between South Shore Community Service Association and
Unifor Local 2001.
