DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a technical specialist and responsible for managing, operating and maintaining the Enterprise IT networking services including but not limited to VPN’s, IPS, NAC, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, VoIP.
- Provides Network, VOIP and cyber security operations - Performs troubleshooting, manage service requests, incident and problem resolution and collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues.
- Develops, documents, backs-up and maintains network configurations and documentation using industry best standards and practices.
- Works closely with IT Team to ensure the current network is scalable, flexible, and sustainable to provide enterprise services to users.
- Reviews and manages logging, tracking, auditing, and reporting for existing network infrastructure and cyber security.
- Recommends and implements appropriate network and security controls to protect information assets from unauthorized access and mitigate cyber related threats.
- Works closely with Manager, IT and Cyber Security to address any security challenges.
- Acts as the point of contact for all requests and incidents generated from the enterprise network, SIEM and other automated monitoring systems.
- Works with 3rd party vendors and telecom service providers to remediate issues as they arise.
- Updates and reports on the network and security posture aligned to CIS Top18 and Ontario Energy Board Cyber Security Framework.
- Performs complex duties relating to network operations, installations, and/or maintenance for local, off-site, and/ or remote locations.
- Designs, implements, upgrades and supports new technologies for network and security infrastructure.
- Performs initial telephony technology evaluation and pre-implementation testing of hardware and software.
- Researches and conducts POC’s on new technologies.
- Leads and performs network reviews, assessments and audits on a wide variety of computing technologies and architectures.
- Develops and maintains reporting metrics, scorecards and dashboards to communicate to upper management.
- Develops and maintains IT BCP/DRP documentation and manages testing efforts to ensure plans are up-to-date to support continued operations and regulatory requirements.
- Assists with the development of policies, standards, processes and guidelines.
- Participates in enhancing the development and implementation of information classification and control policies and procedures.
- Communicates written and verbal technical topics and situations effectively to both technical and non‐technical audiences.
- Possesses highly detailed and customer service oriented qualities. Brings a positive attitude and the ability to maintain composure and professional demeanor when under stress.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s in computer science or engineering.
- 5-10 years in a Network Specialist position (required), 5+ years in security.
- Network and security certifications CCIE, CCNP or CISSP would be an asset.
- Extensive experience with network, VOIP systems and security - TCP/IP, Routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and Encryption, authentication, Wireless, Cisco ASA firewalls, IPS/IDS, VOIP, Cisco UCS.
- Experience working with network including routers and switches, public domain name system, public key interchanges and encryption technology.
- Knowledge and experience working on cloud technologies AWS, Office 365, Azure or similar technologies and IaaS or SaaS deployments.
- Experience and knowledge with network monitoring, intrusion detection and prevention and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Nice to have - Good understanding of server technologies.
- Experience in data security and encryption, BCP/DRP, privacy and confidentiality.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to explain basic technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and multitasking on several tasks/projects.
