**Position Overview**:
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, Subspecialty Critical Care, and the direction of the Registered Respiratory Therapist, while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Grace Hospital. The Respiratory Therapy Assistant - Student is responsible for assisting the Respiratory Therapist in a non-clinical fashion to provide respiratory care to patients at Grace Hospital.

**Experience**:

- Previous related experience working with Respiratory Therapy Equipment and/or in the general field of respiratory therapy preferred.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**:

- Manitoba High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year student and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program (Preference will be given to students of the Max Rady Faculty of Health Science: Respiratory Therapy Program students).

**SPECIAL TRAINING/SKILLS**:

- On-the-job training (up to 6 months) is provided by the Respiratory Therapy Department.

**Certification/Licensure/Registration**:

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Basic computer and keyboarding skills are required.
- Proficiency in English comprehension, written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with professional staff at all levels as well as within a team.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift heavy medical equipment (up to 45 Lbs.).
- Ability to push wheeled medical equipment.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, and allergens.
