**Data Governance Specialist**:
**Job location**: This is a remote/hybrid position. You can work from home and be located anywhere in Canada. If you are located in Ottawa, you will be expected to work in a hybrid model with a minimum of working in the office 3 days a week.

**About the role**:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Data & Analytics, the Data Governance Specialist, as a fully proficient and seasoned professional, will be responsible for developing and implementing a Data Governance roadmap and strategies to ensure that our data is accurate and secure. Passionate about data management, the Data Governance Specialist will be responsible for work that maximizes the value of our data assets and drives data-informed decisions though sound data governance, consistently monitoring data quality. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures and ensuring that they comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

The Data Governance Specialist will partner with stakeholders across our business units to establish data quality standards and processes and will collaborate with teams within Corporate IT to ensure the effective management of data assets. Proactive, solutions oriented, and a trusted partner to the business, you will identify opportunities for data governance improvements, and implement solutions that drive positive change.

**What you will do**:

- Develop and implement the Data Governance program roadmap
- Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data integrity and security, ensuring alignment with our overall corporate data strategy
- Collaborate with business units to develop and implement data governance practices and standards that support business objectives.
- Management of Critical Data Elements, Data Quality & Issues, and Metadata, including creating and maintaining Data Catalog, data definitions, and data lineage, and establishing data quality rules to check the data on completeness and cleanliness.
- Establish, track, and report on KPIs and metrics to monitor progress on the implementation of Data Governance / Management capabilities, and that measure the effectiveness of data governance practices and standards
- Design and develop data risks audit approach to assess the effectiveness of implemented Data Governance / Management controls
- Coordinate and guide Kinaxis's business units and partner with IT teams to ensure alignment and compliance with all applicable Kinaxis and Global policies, directives, standards and guidelines related to data management.
- Oversee data usage and access patterns to identify areas of data risk (that affect accuracy, consistency and quality) and potential data governance improvements; work with IT teams to ensure that data access and usage are monitored and audited.
- Raise awareness about data governance through the development and delivery of training and education that promotes best practices for data management
- Collaborate with business leaders and data stakeholders to align data governance activities with overall business goals

**What we are looking for**:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Information Management, Data Management, Business Analytics, or equivalent work experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' of progressive experience in data governance; high tech, global organization is preferred
- Strong understanding and experience in data management best practices, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience delivering a corporate data governance strategy.
- Experience in developing and monitoring corporate data governance policies and guidelines.
- Experience in managing the agenda and workplans of a data governance committee or similar governance body.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Experiences in working with both business areas and IT as clients or a stakeholder is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience developing innovative solutions to complex data problems
