**Location**:
This full-time position is based at **Elmwood Group **at 630 Pinewood road, Riverview, New Brunswick.

The Lumber Building Material Purchaser is responsible for assisting the Senior Strategic Pricing & Purchasing Manager in procuring and managing the supply of lumber and other building materials required for construction projects. This role involves collaborating with suppliers and ensuring that the company obtains high-quality materials at competitive prices. The Lumber Building Material Purchaser also assists in monitoring inventory levels, assists with receiving and maintains relationships with vendors to support the successful execution of construction projects.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Sourcing and Procurement**:

- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of lumber and building materials.
- Obtain competitive bids and quotations for materials.
- Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- **Market Analysis**:

- Stay informed about market trends, price fluctuations, and industry developments.
- Monitor changes in supply and demand to mitigate potential risks.
- **Vendor Management**:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Evaluate vendor performance and address any issues or concerns.
- Collaborate with vendors to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- **Quality Assurance**:

- Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct inspections or quality checks on delivered materials when necessary.
- Collaborate with account managers to address any quality issues.
- **Inventory Control**:

- Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Implement efficient inventory control measures to reduce waste and costs.
- Utilize inventory management systems to track material levels and reorder points.
- **Cost Management**:

- Analyze and control costs associated with material procurement.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- **Communication**:

- Collaborate with Account Managers and other relevant departments to understand material requirements.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to relay specifications, delivery schedules, and other relevant information.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Problem solver who enjoys working in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, can manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in customer service is required.
- Knowledge of the building materials industry is a definite asset.
- Microsoft Office skills and willingness to learn new software programs.
- Ability to work co-operatively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.

**Working relationships**
- Reports directly to the Senior Strategic Pricing & Purchasing Manager.
