**The role**:
Reporting to the Program Manager, The Research and Business Strategist works with the program team in collecting, collating and analyzing information to support the development of a business case for projects. This position provides information and insights that impact strategic decisions for the program and creates a business case aligned with program goals and objectives. The position also analyzes program performance and creates reports as required.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Completing research into business models for childcare centres, working alongside the Childcare Specialist to gather information and access appropriate databases, primary and secondary research, and other sources, to develop various business models for consideration.
- Completing research into Alberta labour market to understand which roles, industries and sectors are struggling with recruitment and retention.
- Gathering data and research regarding employee recruitment, retention for employers in Alberta, and challenges that employees have in maintaining employment to build the business case for on-site daycare.
- Completing surveys or access data to understand the childcare barriers faced by Albertans.
- Compiling research in a central location, organize and analyze research data in order to provide summary of findings.
- Providing recommendations for various business model(s) to be used in business case.
- Working with the program team, build and write business case that can be presented to various employers to support the idea of an employer supported daycare.
- Developing presentation materials.
- Supporting the team by creating the quarterly report using the data provided by program team and data analyst.
- Preparing and support the creation of professional reports, presentations and other materials.
- Providing editorial support including writing, copyediting and reviewing internal and external content which may include speeches, video scripts, articles, and both internal and external communications.
- Other duties as assigned.

**What you bring to the table**:

- Post secondary education in business, social sciences, communications, public relations or other related disciplines.
- Experience with research through academic studies or work experience required.
- Business Case or relevant writing experience required.
- Experience building presentation materials required.
- Excellent communication and writing skills are required.
- Knowledge of the Alberta childcare system is an asset.
- Basic graphic design and page-layout skills, presentation software expertise (PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- Must have strong mastery of the English language.
- Must pass a criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
- Excellent listening and written communication skills.
- Ability to support and work with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, as required.
