**Ward Clerk**: Part-Time

The ward clerk is responsible as directed by the Director of Care (DOC) or her designate, for the co-ordination of activities as necessary to ensure nursing and office services are provided in compliance with applicable legislation. Implementing policies and procedures, liaison with all departments, head office personnel, health professionals, health care facilities, residents, families and providing secretarial services.

**Job Duties**:
Under the direction of the DOC or her designate, undertakes or assists regarding the following:
1. Maintaining the established system of reporting and internal control.

2. Ensuring that accurate and complete documentation of office and nursing procedures are maintained.

3. Liaising with attending physicians, coroner, supervisors, Ministry of Health Officers, social workers, Clergy, residents and families/responsible parties.

4. Assist with health records management including thinning and filing current charts; compiling and sorting death and discharge charts

5. Assist with managing, booking and scheduling of in-services.

6. Prepare inservice and self learning packages

7. Monthly preparation of PSW documentation

8. Do tours and provide brochures for potential residents and/or representatives if required.

9. Assist with audits of nursing quality improvement programs.

10. Assist in the management and delivery of incontinence products.

11. Inventory of nursing supplies and government stock for weekly ordering

12. Scheduling of staff replacement

13. Conduct daily work activities in support of the health and safety policies and procedures.

14. Ensures that they are familiar with the health and safety language in the collective agreement.

**Job Requirements**:
A sound knowledge of medical office practices of health records essential. Competency with computer and office programs required. Familiarity with pertinent legislation necessary.
