Hoarding Specialist

Hoarding Specialist will be responsible for supporting clients experiencing persistent difficulty getting rid of or parting with possessions which may lead to unhealthy disruptions in their daily living or work spaces.
They will be a resource to staff and an advocate to clients in their comprehensive understanding of hoarding management and the impact hoarding might have on mental health and physical well-being.
- Their main goal is to ensure that clients receive the best support possible to enable them to access and achieve independence in their homes and daily activities.**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Provide advanced behavioral health interventions through individualized assessments, crisis planning, and counselling-
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate hoarding related treatment plans-
- Use standardized assessment tools within a community setting-
- Communicate risk assessments and contingency plans-
- Assist with activities of daily living and provide conflict resolution-
- Provide service co-ordination and client advocacy-
- Coordinate resources and support landlord/tenant relationships-
- Stay up to date with best practices and emerging trends in hoarding service delivery-
- Collaborate between services by providing expertise, guidance, and consultation with colleagues-
- Assist clients in developing and maintaining community supports and social skills necessary to maintain independency in the community-
- Refer to partnering organizations and provide linkages to community supports-
- Understand and be able to integrate a philosophy of client-centred care into daily responsibilities-
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality care and service delivery based on SHIP’s Mission and Values-
- Ensure appropriate records are kept and ensure that statistical information is maintained as per agency standards-
- Adhere to agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety-
- Perform additional duties as required/delegated by Management**Qualifications**:- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Social Services, Health Services, or equivalent-
- 1-2 years’ experience providing support to individuals with obsessive-compulsive personality disorders-
- Demonstrated knowledge of serious mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dual diagnosis, and experience with intake services-
- Excellent assessment, risk management, and crisis intervention-
- Expertise in collaboration with healthcare services-
- Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)-
- A vehicle, valid driver’s license, and adequate insurance coverage-
- Valid Certification in First Aid & CPR-
