Location:
Position Overview:
This position reports to the Supervisor of Roads and Sidewalks and will support the planning and scheduling of resources necessary to effectively carry out work programs supporting the repair and maintenance of roads and drainage assets. This position will also provide guidance to crews regarding procedures, equipment, and work methods.

Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for:
- Organizing and assigning work for frontline staff and assisting in daily work activities as necessary.- Auditing and monitoring work progress, reviewing maintenance schedules, and performing inspections to ensure standards are met regarding work performed on mainly roadways, including sidewalks, and drainage assets.- Instructing, training and orientating staff in all aspects of the job and providing feedback on performance.- Investigating and responding to inquiries from the public, emergency services, as well as other departments, senior management and members of Council.- Operating and performing minor maintenance on various types of motor vehicles and equipment.- Purchasing and arranging delivery of supplies from vendors and inspecting shipments to confirm quality and quantity of materials meet order specifications.- Providing information and monitoring work of contractors to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and contractual obligations.-
- Complying with requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7, Federal, Provincial and City regulations, policies, and procedures (ie. Minimum Maintenance Standards, City Levels of Service).- Performing the role of a stand-in Supervisor on occasions when the Supervisor is not available. This may include on-call responsibilities.

Requirements:
A valid DZ driver’s licence is required with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire).
