The Vehicle Team leader will lead a team of Vehicle Technicians providing a comprehensive, fault diagnostic, recovery and repair service to Trillium line trains, while ensuring that the trains operate in a safe reliable manner and required service levels and fleet performance is maintained and enhanced. The Vehicle Team Leader will respond to enquiries from other departments and organize the work of the shift and subsequent shifts as is necessary to promote efficient use of time and resources. In addition, they will diagnose the cause of failures to vehicle equipment and rectify them in an efficient manner following standard procedures and safety instructions and make all preparations for servicing, inspection and corrective maintenance. This position will still perform vehicle technician duties including responding to vehicle related emergencies and provide direction and advice to all necessary Emergency Response (ER) teams and other staff as required.

**Your role within the team**:

- Provide service levels for system operations requirements at all times while maintaining reliability, cost effectiveness and safety standards.
- Take responsibility for Preventive Maintenance checks, Corrective Maintenance, Overhaul activity, train testing and fleet modifications on trains while ensuring timely return to service within schedules outlined by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Generate work orders for all work required, assign duties to Vehicle Technicians, monitor contractors, complete check sheets recording work completed on vehicles, provide technical assistance and direction to Vehicle Technicians and enter data in the Asset Management System.
- Carry out train movements as Hostler when required within the depot to facilitate maintenance, launch and vehicle recovery.
- Assist with commissioning of new and existing trains, systems and vehicle related subsystems ensuring high reliability, continuous improvement and safety of equipment and personnel.
- Effectively use RDS (Stadler) and other train fault software to minimize train delays and to organize the efficient transfer of trains requiring repair to and from the Mainline while maximizing the utilization of the Vehicles Technician team.
- Assist the YCC Control Room Manager during train failure events.
- Complete and distribute Daily Handover reports at end of shift.
- Must maintain Vehicle Inspector qualifications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Participate in Maintenance efficiency initiatives with a focus on Continuous Improvement.
- Acquire a high level of technical proficiency in all aspects of the Trillium line vehicles, including mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
- The Vehicle Team Leader will ascertain the correct course of action within the confines of Health and Safety Regulations, Departmental Policy, Maintenance Procedures and Instructions.
- Operate electronic Asset control systems.
- Should be well motivated and take a proactive approach to team work.
- Evaluate train and related support equipment failures and instigate corrective action.
- Ensure that the Depot is maintained as a clean healthy and safe working environment under direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Develop and implement sub system instructions (SOPs) when selected by Maintenance Supervisor.

- Adherence to all statutory and operations workshop & trackside regulations and procedures, including impairment and hours of work policies.
- Adherence to AtkinsRéalis Blue Book policies (Step Backs, JHAs etc) and associated Blue Rules.
- Carry out maintenance activities in a method that will not cause harm to themselves or other staff.
- Ensure that the tools used are correct for the maintenance action and are free from defect.
- Ensure that all Testing & Measuring equipment is calibrated and within date.
- Ensure all licenses are current and valid for equipment to be operated.
- Attend required safety related training.
