**Transit Operator
The Bow Valley Regional Transit Services Commission (BVRTSC) is looking to add Transit Operators to our team for our 2024 service season. We provide public transit to both visitors and residents looking to enjoy the Bow Valley without the use of a private vehicle. Our team members make an impact in our communities every day. We are looking for people who love safely operating large equipment, enjoy working independently and with a team, and are committed to treating customers with respect, tact, and diplomacy.

**Job Profile**:
Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, Transit Operators are responsible for the safe operation of a variety of transit vehicles and must follow schedule guidelines, sometimes under adverse weather and traffic conditions and challenging circumstances. Transit operators are required to learn and follow all of Roam’s safety and operational procedures.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide excellent customer service to all customers of BVRTSC
- Operate all Roam buses and vehicles in a safe, courteous manner
- Accept fares according to the fare schedule
- Provide on schedule public transit service
- Attend all required training and staff meetings as requested
- Communicate with operations team when required
- Perform all Pre trip and Post trip requirements and report any issues to dispatch
- Report all required accidents and incidents as per policies and procedures
- Responsible for the wellbeing of the bus and passengers at all times during your shift
- Additional related tasks as required

**Qualifications**:
Education Requirement:

- High School Diploma required

**Experience**:

- Class 1 or 2 Alberta Operator’s License
- Q endorsement (airbrakes)
- Minimum 2 years customer service experience
- Minimum 1 year experience driving large vehicles
- Previous transit experience considered an asset

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Ability to speak a second language will be considered an asset
- Ability to handle cash and operate electronic equipment
- Familiarity with the Roam public transit service considered an asset
- Customer service focused with an ability to work professionally with the public
- Knowledge of the Bow Valley area considered an asset
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a composed manner
- Ability to work both in a team and independent environment

Other Requirements, Conditions:

- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Alberta driver’s license in good standing, no more than 3 demits against your license in the past 2 years
- Must be legally able to work in Canada.
- Must pass criminal record check
- Must be able to obtain all the necessary operating licenses and permits to legally operate a municipal transit bus
- Must be able to work shift schedule which includes evenings, weekends, Statutory holidays, early mornings, and late nights
- Must have reliable transportation to and from both Banff and Canmore

**Compensation & Benefits**:

- $28.00 per hour
