**The intent of the NGG program is to**:

- Provide support new nurses in Ontario as they transition into practice;
- Improve the integration of new nurses into the workforce;
- Promote the availability of full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours for new nurses; and
- Promote health workforce planning at the organizational level.

**What is the NGG Program?**:
The Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) is a program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This program is designed to support newly graduated RNs and RPNs, as well as Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) who are within 12 months of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

CHEO has opportunities for New Grads in the following areas:

- PICU
- Inpatient Medicine
- NICU
- Emergency Department
- Inpatient Surgery
- Hematology/Oncology/Nephrology
- Mental Health

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
As a new grad transitioning into practice, during the 12-week orientation and training program, incumbents will receive invaluable coaching, feedback and mentorship in a clinical setting while performing in the scope of the RN role and supporting patient care.

**COMMITMENT**:

- These positions will work in a fixed term contract of 1.0 FTE for a 12-week period.
- Various intake periods will be offered between June and October 2023.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- The program is open to nurses within 12 months of registering with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Canadian Educated Nurses who:

- Graduated with a BA or Diploma in Nursing from a practical nursing program in Canada;
- Match with an employer on the NGG online portal within 12 months of registering with the CNO; and
- Commit to accepting full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours with their NGG employer after completing the NGG program transition into practice period.
- Successful completed a recent pediatric clinical placement at CHEO or other organization (preferred)
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills in English (Essential)
- Family-centered approach (Essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team (Essential)
- Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Effective communication skills to provide ongoing support and care for diverse patients and communicate any concerns, changes in the patient’s condition (Essential)
- Ability to respond to physical demands (e.g., heavy lifts and transfers, run to codes, do restraints) (Essential)
- Basic knowledge of performing vital signs, sterility and aseptic technique and established Infection Control and Occupational Health and Safety practices (Essential)
