Life Baptist Church is looking for an associate pastor that will primarily work with youth and young adults in an urban setting on the West side of Saskatoon, SK. This is a full-time position. We are a growing congregation with an average attendance of 80 - 100 each Sunday morning. We are affiliated with the Baptist General conference in Canada.

**The Associate Pastor’s Job Description is as follows**:

- 1 Peter 5:1-3_
- “So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.”_

Based on this passage of Scripture, the job description of the associate pastor is to shepherd the flock of God.

To do the work of a shepherd means:
**I. Loving**
- Christ, the Chief Shepherd
- Has a passion for Jesus Christ
- Has the desire to follow Christ's leading
- The Flock
- Has a genuine love shown for those under his care
- Shows care for the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of the congregation

**II. Leading**
- Visioning
- Shows a compelling vision for the ministries he leads that is consistent with the heart of Jesus Christ.
- Gives sufficient detail of the plan to reach this future so that those he leads feel confident in being a part of the ministry.
- Modelling
- Models a high standard that is an example for those he leads.
- Only asks of those he leads what he would be willing to do himself.
- Multiplying
- Promotes individuals and their giftings as a vital part of the body of Christ.
- Encourages individuals to serve or lead in some area of ministry in the church.
- Trains and equips the people he leads.

**III. Feeding**
- Teaches and preaches the Word of God in a relevant, convicting and motivating manner.

**IV. Protecting**
- Promotes a safe environment in the church, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
- Protects and upholds God's truth.

**V. Finding**
- Has compassion for the church's community and for those who don't yet know Christ.

The role of the Associate Pastor is to work in unity with the Lead Pastor to help fulfill the vision and mission of Life Baptist Church. The Associate Pastor works under the supervision of the Lead Pastor.

A few specific roles & responsibilities expected at LBC:

- Understand, endorse, teach and live out the Biblical and theological teachings of LBC.
- Assist with the pastoral work of the church. To shepherd the flock as outlined above.
- Assist with providing direction, leadership, strategies and budgets to assigned ministries.
- Assist in church services and ceremonies as needed.
- Assist with the operations of LBC when needed.
- Assist in speaking on Sunday mornings.
- Participation in regular staff meetings. Keep an updated calendar of activities and communicate with the staff and other ministry leaders as needed.
- Engage the community outside the church as opportunity and time allow.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
