Surface Treatment Superintendent

Dexter Construction Company, part of The Municipal Group of Companies, is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking a **Surface Treatment Superintendent,** based out of Bedford Nova Scotia**, **to work in Microsurfacing and Chipseal Operations in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

**Job Summary**:
The Superintendent will be responsible for day-to-day operations of Microsurfacing and Chipseal crews. This will include, but not be limited to coordinating logistics of stockpiling, laydown areas, material delivery, and managing crew and personnel. They must plan and schedule jobs, ensure safety and quality control, as well as coordinate work with internal client representatives and outside agencies. They must also delegate work to field employees and subcontractors. The Superintendent represents the company to external and internal Stakeholders in a professional manner, one that reflects the value and integrity of the company. The Superintendent will report directly to the Construction Manager and work closely with managers of various divisions within New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure a safe work environment for themselves and fellow employees; in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to schedule repairs on various types of surface treatment equipment.
- Foster prioritization and cooperation between divisions.
- Understands general surface treatment specifications.
- Ability to monitor and maximize daily operations.
- Monitor Job Cost Tracking, Production, and billings accordingly to various agencies.
- Any other duties as required.

**Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience**:

- 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisor position preferably in the construction industry.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, interpret stakeholders needs, and identify solutions.
- Skilled at promoting teamwork with project teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail in completing work tasks.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
- Able to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
- Ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Out-of-town travel will be required on a frequent basis.
- Ability to work shift work as required.
