**NOTE: This is a temporary position ending on or before June 28 2024.**

The Carpentry program provides apprentices with the skills to construct, erect and repair residential, commercial, and institutional building structures, work on heavy duty construction projects and renovate and maintain structures.
- have strong technical knowledge in Carpentry fundamentals.
- have technical knowledge and experience in commercial and industrial construction.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, lab/shop and industry setting.
- Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
- Facilitate the learning process utilizing instructional strategies ensuring efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery setting the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student difficulties
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned

- Knowledge of computers

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum requirements are a relevant Journeyman Certification.
- Inter-provincial Red Seal required
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket.
- Recent commercial/industrial construction experience.
- Teaching experience would be an asset

**Remuneration**: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of statuary holidays and vacation pay. (Instructor salary grid $33.97 - $59.09 per hour, however, starting hourly wage for a new hire averages between $41.15 - $44.74 per hour based on education and experience. (Classification - Instructor).
- This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement_
