**Salary**: $2,626.89 to $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561- $90,011 annually)

**Role Responsibilities**:
Do you want to work in a challenging workplace where you are providing governance support for the appointment processes for the Professional Conduct and Competency General Panel, Certification Appeal Committee and the Board of Reference established under the Education Act and associated regulations, and public members appointed to the College of Alberta School Superintendents?
The Governance Specialist/Investigator is responsible for:
**1) Supporting recruitment and appointment process for the Professional Conduct and Competency General Panel (PCCGP), the Certification Appeal Committee (CAC), and the Board of Reference (BOR), as well as public member appointments to the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS)**:
- Work with department staff and Public Agency Secretariat on appointment process, following the most recent appointment procedures from Executive Council, including working with Legislative Services to prepare necessary appointment documents (including Ministerial Orders and Orders in Council). Develop and manage files, interview plans, briefings, and recruitment processes including consulting with the Public Agency Secretariat, and ensuring recruitment meets legislative requirements.**2) Providing executive secretariat support to boards and committees, including making sure they comply with appropriate legislation, and administer hearings, appeals and mediation and resolution processes to ensure that Alberta's classrooms consist of high-quality teachers.**
- Support boards and committees under the Education Act and the Certification of Teachers and Teacher Leaders Regulation by serving and collaborating with Justice and the Director of Governance and Registries branch, and other areas as needed to organize orientations for committee members.
- As the secretariat at hearings ordered by the Commission and appeal hearings requested by appellants your duty is:
- Ensuring timely and accurate administration of legislation relating to committee/board functions (including: the Education Act, Teaching Profession Act, Interpretation Act, Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act (APAGA), The Professional Conduct and Competency for Teachers and Teacher Leaders Regulation and the Certification of Teachers and Teacher Leaders Regulation).
- Prepare correspondence to involved parties and hearing panels pertaining to the establishment of hearings and decisions of the hearing panel. Providing advice and guidance in drafting timely documents in alignment with the principles of administrative justice and legislation and ensure materials are prepared and disclosed to parties involved in hearings and appeals.
- Supporting Chairs in developing and implementing codes of conduct, roles and responsibility and mandate documents and ensure documents are compliant with APAGA.

**3) Conducting Pre-certification Investigations and providing reports to the Case Manager to facilitate Registrar's decision-making regarding issuance of certification**:
- Identifies and obtains, with appropriate authorizations, resources for investigations.
- Develops and coordinates investigation plans and allocates resources/responsibilities when required.
- Analyzes results and prepare investigative reports.
- Ensures the accuracy of information and adherence to report standards for all pre-certification reports. Is prepared to be called as a witness during a hearing.**4) Providing support in achieving the mandate, goals and operations of the Branch, Division and Ministry.**
- Prepares advice and recommendations on issues with implications, prepare briefing papers, action request responses and draft correspondence for the Ministry.
- Participates and consults in legislative, policy and/or program working committees, and provide feedback as requested. Promotes a co-operative working relationship with colleagues in the branch and the division, as well as a collaborative consultative relationship with other departments and external stakeholders (ex.
