**Job Title**: Part-Time Cook/Chef
**Location**: 40-Bed Community Residential Facility
**Position Type**: Part-Time (2 days a week, 10-hour shifts)
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Meal Preparation & Cooking**: Prepare and cook lunch and dinner for approximately 40 residents, ensuring quality dishes that adhere to Canada’s Food Guide.
- **Dietary Needs**: Accommodate residents’ dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requirements. Liaise with staff and residents to understand individual needs.
- **Food Safety & Hygiene**: Ensure all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation comply with food hygiene regulations, food safety laws, and company policies.
- **Independent Work**: Confidently manage the kitchen independently, maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
- **Food Storage & Handling**: Properly store food, maintain kitchen equipment, and ensure all utensils and implements are cleaned and sanitized according to regulations.
- **Compliance**: Conduct routine temperature checks for fridges, freezers, and storage areas. Follow accident, first aid, and emergency procedures when necessary.
- **Quality Control**: Check the quality and quantity of both raw and cooked food products, ensuring standards are consistently met.
- **Dishwashing & Cleaning**: Ensure all kitchen areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Operate dishwashing machines and clean equipment filters as needed.
- **Meetings & Training**: Attend meetings and training sessions as required, ensuring continued adherence to facility policies and certifications.
- **Professionalism**: Maintain a safe, hygienic, and professional appearance while on duty.
**Requirements**:
- **Experience**: Previous experience in batch cooking for large groups is essential. Experience with restricted diets is highly preferred.
- **Skills**: Ability to work independently, confident in managing kitchen operations, and attention to detail in dietary requirements.
- **Certifications**: Must maintain up-to-date certifications as required by law and facility policy.
- **Background Checks**: A successful police and background check is required for employment.
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects when necessary.
**Additional Information**: This position involves up to two 10-hour shifts per week, primarily preparing and serving meals for lunch and dinner. We are looking for someone who has a passion for serving residents with high-quality, nutritious meals in a compassionate and professional manner.

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 25 per week
