If you have a deep appreciation for the art and science of cider making, we have an exciting opportunity for you Our cidery is seeking a talented and dedicated Cider Maker to join our team and play a pivotal role in creating high-quality ciders that leave a lasting impression on our customers.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Orcharding and Fruit Selection: Collaborate with our orchard team to ensure the procurement of top-quality fruits suitable for cider production. Evaluate fruit quality and make recommendations for optimal cider blends.
2. Cider Production: Oversee the entire cider production process from start to finish. This includes milling, pressing, fermenting, and racking.
3. Recipe Development: Utilize your expertise and creativity to develop innovative cider recipes while maintaining the authenticity of our traditional offerings. Experiment with different apple varieties and adjuncts to craft unique and memorable flavors.
4. Fermentation Management: Monitor fermentation progress, adjust parameters as needed, and maintain strict quality control to produce consistently excellent ciders.
5. Barrel Aging: Manage barrel aging programs, ensuring that the right techniques and timing are applied to achieve desired flavor profiles.
6. Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality assurance measures to ensure that each batch of cider meets our high standards for taste, aroma, and appearance.
7. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of cider-making equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition at all times.
8. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
9. Team Collaboration: Work closely with our passionate team of cider enthusiasts, providing guidance and support where necessary.
10. Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our cider-making process.
11. Packaging: Plan and execute onsite bottling and canning runs.
**Qualifications**:
- 3+ years working in cider or wine making
- Proven passion and innovation for creating delicious alcoholic beverages
- Experience operating and maintaining canning and bottling lines
- Ability to prioritize tasks and juggle a busy schedule
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position including repetitive lifting up to 75 lbs, being able to stand for extended periods of time, and have no qualms with confined spaces and heights

**Education**:
Formal Education in Wine Making preferred
**Experience**:
Cider, Beer, or Winemaking (3+ years) preferred
