Job Position: Construction Inspector

Position Number: 1

**Job Type**: Permanent, Full-time (35 hr/week)

Monday -Friday, 9 am -5 pm, 12 pm -1 pm lunch break, Weekend and after hours may required

Wage: Base (Cad $ 21 /hr)+Overtime Pay

Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

Language Requirement: English

Work Location: in
- person, Lower Sackville ,NS office and nearby construction sites.

Job Duties:
1. - Conduct inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and specifications

2. Inspect the construction project sites and new or existing buildings to ensure that specifications and building codes are observed and monitor work site safety.

3. Examine plans, drawings, and site layouts for new buildings, building renovations and other proposed structures and projects.

4. Perform quality control checks to ensure that construction work meets industry standards

5. Inspect construction of buildings and other projects, for conformance to drawings, specifications, building codes or other applicable ordinances

6. Inspect steel framework, concrete forms, reinforcing steel mesh and rods, concrete or pre-stressed concrete to ensure quality standards and to verify conformance to specifications and building codes.

7. Inspect construction of sewer systems and pipelines in residential and commercial projects

8. Inspect construction sites, identify and report any safety hazard to ensure that safe working conditions are maintained.

9. Collect data and document findings during inspections

10. Inspect existing buildings to identify and report on structural defects, fire hazards and other threats to safety.

11. Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to address any issues or concerns

12. Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate workplace activities to ensure that workers comply with company’s policies and government safety regulations.

Qualification and skills requirements:
1. A college diploma or a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering or architectural technology plus several years of related work experience

or

several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade, such as plumbing, carpentry or electrical trade

2. Previous experience in construction inspection is an asset.

3. Provincial certification in a skilled trade or as an engineering technologist is preferred

4. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues or defects

6. Ability to analyze construction materials and methods for compliance with regulations and specifications
