**Status**: Seasonal, Full time, Five 8-hour days***

**Location**:Scarborough (Rouge Park), possibly Toronto (Downsview Park) for training

**Reports To**:Wildlife Rehabilitation Manager

**Start Date**:Early spring 2023

**Commitment**:6 month contract

**Salary**:Starting at $15.50 per hour

**Position Summary**:
At Toronto Wildlife Centre, the wildlife nursery can be one of the busiest, most hectic, AND most rewarding areas of our hospital. In this critical role as Nursery Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing all of the daily tasks of the squirrel nursery while ensuring that our amazing team of volunteers receive the support and assistance they need to help our wild patients. Although you will be mostly assisting volunteers with organization, feedings and other daily care of our patients, you will get the opportunity to perform some higher level tasks like medicating and providing fluid therapy. The role is heavily focused on caring for our orphan squirrels but will also include the opportunity to work with other orphan species such as Virginia Opossums, Eastern Cottontails, Striped Skunks, Racoons, etc.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Uphold a positive and professional working environment at all times
- Provide daily care to wild patients including, but not limited to feeding, housing (set-up and cleaning), weighing and any other special needs
- Administer prescribed treatments and medications according to directions (generally oral medications and subcutaneous fluids)
- Maintain wildlife care charts
- Handle wildlife in a manner that maximizes human and wildlife safety while minimizing stress to wildlife at all times
- Take a leadership role in training and providing direction to volunteers
- Keep the Nursery organized, neat, and tidy (suitable for public viewing)
- Ensure that all tasks/feedings remain on schedule
- Keep the Senior Wildlife Rehabilitators appraised of any concerns about patient health and safety

**Position Requirements**:

- Previous experience working with wildlife at TWC (current or past volunteer, intern, staff)
- Must be available for weekend shifts and evenings
- Must be willing to perform invasive procedures (e.g. subcutaneous fluid administration) to patients in a safe and professional manner, in accordance to protocol

- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions and protocols well
- Must be skilled in organization and delegation and able to work effectively with a range of personalities

Able to work with mínimal supervision
